Description
“Uri” was born in the cold. Painted during the infamous Winter Storm Uri, when everything in Texas froze—power, pipes, and time itself—this piece carries that strange silence and survival energy. There’s beauty in the stillness that comes when the world shuts down, and “Uri” is a relic of that stillness, layered with resilience and a strange, glowing warmth underneath it all.
Named after the storm that inspired it, and also after the Hebrew word for “my light”, Uri is both a memory and a mantra. It’s what you cling to when it’s dark and you’re wrapped in three blankets, wondering if the power’s ever coming back on—but also wondering if maybe, just maybe, this quiet is trying to teach you something.
“Uri” pulses with that frozen-in-time energy: deep blues, stark contrasts, and a spark of life humming underneath. It’s a conversation between the cold outside and the warmth within—the reminder that even in blackout conditions, your spirit keeps glowing.
Painted by Nick Mokashi, this piece is less about what it looks like and more about what it feels like. Hang it anywhere you want to remember that you’ve already survived a lot more than you give yourself credit for.
